Space is one of the most important parts in all aspects of life as it surrounds of course. Through thick and thin, scientists made breakthroughs that have truly revolutionized space exploration in the past. Furthermore, the progress in space exploration will continue to innovate and leave a heartfelt impact on future generations.

In 1957, Sputnik 1, which was developed by the Soviet Union, was launched into space. This was important because it was the first ever spacecraft to be launched into space. Again in 1961, the Soviet Union developed another spacecraft which now held Yuri Gagarin, the first ever human to reach space. However, in 1969, the United States were the first to reach the moon and actually have humans step foot on the moon, which was one of the most important achievements in space exploration history.

However, the achievements in space exploration did not go without failed attempts. As the first shuttle to explode and the death of humans was by the United States. The shuttle was called Challenger in 1986 and it led to the death of seven people instantly. Even after the gruesome tragedy that unfolded, the world kept on firing rockets after rockets, but improving fuel efficiency and backup resources to help reduce the chance of exploding shuttles.

In 1998, a place where many astronauts rest, recover, and analyze space, the International Space Station (ISS) launched. The ISS is capable of producing way more research and analysis than any space laboratory on Earth which is crucial to helping humans advance space exploration for the future.

There are still more innovations and space exploration coming in the distant future. By the 2030s, scientists hope to have humans set foot on Mars for the very first time. The first ever spacecraft that landed on Mars was in 1976, which is a long gap from exploring the planet as compared to the moon, but still shows the precaution towards humans on exploring the red martian.

All in all, space exploration is defined by the history of achievements, innovation, and inventions produced by scientists. The future will continue to do so to help mankind reach more and more places that have never been explored, but also to become faster, more efficient, and more innovative.
